Hey everyone! Long time no talk, but I just thought I'd fill you in on something big that just happened to me.
So, Sunday night into Monday I had such a terrible migraine that made my brain go fuzzy at one point. I was terrified, really, because I didn't know if something crucial was happening to my brain and I didn't know. I tried to wake my dad at one point, but he just kept making up excuses for what was happening, so eventually I tried to forget everything that was happening, drank a lot of water, and went to bed only to wake up two hours later for school. My brain was still killing me, and I was really dizzy, so I told my dad that I wasn't going into school. Normally I'd go to school with that amount of sleep (I've gone in with only 10 minutes before, so), but I knew something was wrong.
I got some rest throughout my day, but then something big happened when I got out of the shower that night.
When I was drying off with a towel, I suddenly got hit with the worst stomach ache of my life. I tried going to the bathroom, thinking that maybe it was just the pizza I ate that night and my lactose intolerance was acting up after such a long time of not. But the pain did NOT go away for about 20 minutes straight, and nothing was happening to quell it. The pain just kept getting more intense, and eventually my body couldn't take it anymore. I started to hyperventilate. I knew I was going to pass out. The pain was THAT bad.
Luckily I caught my older sister just as she was about to go into her bedroom to sleep, and I called her over. She tried to calm me down, but I told her the pain was that excruciating that I couldn't. I kept yelling at her after that to get my dad, once I saw my hands and feet curl in and my stomach grow very tight. My dad called the paramedics, and an ambulance came.
My dad helped move me to the couch, but the pain intensified even more. At this point I was crying because I couldn't take it anymore. Something bad was happening, I realized, as I breathed through a paper bag. I had hyperventilated before, almost with the same background story with my stomach hurting a lot and the paramedics having to come, but that was a couple years ago. This was different.
Eventually when the guys came, I was told that I would be put onto a stretcher outside, put into an ambulance, and taken to the ER of a hospital.
As I was in the ambulance, my first time ever, I spoke a little to the guy with me. He was very funny, kind, and helpful. I answered all his questions and what not, but then I told him about the mold in my bathroom and if that had anything to do with it. My family and I have had black mold in our bathroom for over a year, and we just bleached it a couple of days ago. I was starting to experience some symptoms of poisoning, and I told him that, but the guy canceled it out as an option for what was happening to me. He said I most likely had a block in my intestines, and that it possibly scratched them.
Eventually I arrived at the ER, and was put into a room. My dad came in moments later, and when he did, I immediately told him I had to go to the bathroom.
This happened a lot where I had to use the bathroom to go... you know... diarrhea.
Throughout this interval, I had to take a urine sample, which came out really dark, and blood samples. I got an IV stuck into my arm and I was given 2 bags of water. Apparently I was really dehydrated, which I had been diagnosed with in the past and linked to my really bad headaches.
My mum arrived at the hospital soon enough, but by then I was feeling extremely nauseous. She kept telling my dad to leave because he was about to fall asleep, and when he stood up to go, I sat up and puked. Man, it was terrible. I hate throwing up. Scary business.
My dad left when he was reassured I was feeling a bit better. I got some liquid stuff injected through my IV to help with the nausea.
A few hours passed and I was told that I'd be getting a cat scan to make sure nothing was happening to my appendix. Therefore I had to drink this HUGE BOTTLE of liquid that would make my stomach glow and show up when I got the scan. It was TORTURE. I was not thirsty at all. My stomach felt like it was about to explode afterwards, AND I had to go to the bathroom 5 or 6 times just to go pee. It was like every 10 minutes, I had to go to the bathroom.
2 hours later, I could finally get my scan. I was wheeled into a far away room with the huge robotic donut machine that would give me the cat scan. I had to drink a little more of that stupid liquid, but by then I didn't care because I actually was a tiny bit thirsty and it tasted like lemonade.
I had to lay down on this bed thing, go through the machine a couple times, hold my breathe when told to. But eventually the machine changed gears, and in made my insides BURN. SO MUCH. It was really hard to breathe, too.
When it was all over, I was wheeled back into my room, and just rested for a long time, occasionally getting up to use the bathroom, still.
At the end of my time being there, the doctor told me everything that was wrong:
- Urinary Tract Infection
- Bacterial Colitis [this is the inflammation of the colon/large intestine due to a bad bacteria, which is giving me the flu-like symptoms and diarrhea]
My cat scan came up good, so that was all. They're still doing more tests, and I'm not sure when I'm going to find out other information, but yeah.
So now I have to be on a very plain diet- bananas, toast, rice, water.
That is all I've been eating really. The only exception was some soup and rice wafers.
I just thought you'd all like to be informed on what's happening in my life at the moment, since I haven't posted in a while. What's happening with you guys?
(Also, I'm not sure why some of the text is italicized... It doesn't even say it is as I'm typing, so. um.)
